Dandi Museum – A Salt Mound

The Museum Interior was conceptualized by SPCL contractor under the guidance of Atelier Lights (Formerly Atelier dada PVT. LTD.) as part of CEPT University’s lighting consultants. For Interiors, the concept was to create a separate building, within the symbolic conical shell structure of salt mound. Hence the idea was to show this building a Jewel. An approach highlighting the core elements like wooden curved walls, truss structure and the cone in skillful manner was suggested to the contractor.

Atelier Lights (Formerly Atelier dada PVT. LTD.) as part of CEPT’s expert team helped owners at every stage of lighting from concept to execution and maintenance guidelines.

On an overall it has been a great learning experience for us to work with Indian public institutions. CEPT consultants’ journey as professional advisor almost changed to designers at times to save the spirit and expenditure of the project. However, a lesson learnt is to take full control of concept and development including the fixture selection and execution fully and not let it for the contractor to engineer the master plan concepts. This is to follow the best results in given time, scale and space in India where we have been active currently.
